Caring the Mental Health Way: Upskilling Workshop 2
Module One
Discussing mental health and mental illness and creating awareness to the signs and symptoms of 5 common diagnosis. Aiming to enhance the skills, knowledge and capabilities of general health professionals so as improved practices across the continuum of nursing care is provided for those with a mental illness diagnosis.
Module Two
Understanding and learning awareness to the presentations of signs and symptoms, and the treatments available that may lead to the prevention of mental and or physical deterioration of health.
Learning Outcomes
- Basic concepts to mental health and mental illness.
- Participants will be able to objectively demonstrate an awareness to the signs and symptoms of 5 common diagnosis,
- Describe treatments that are available, from the health service and from clinicians, leading to improved and effective partnerships
- Participants will be able to objectively demonstrate a beginner entry level on successfully discussing what is and what to do for the deterioration of mental and physical illness
Target
- Top End Health employees
- Nursing, Medical, Mental Health Clinicians, Allied Health and or AOD clinicians working in anywhere from general wards to acute care and or community
Duration
8:30am - 4:00pm (7 hours)

Face to face.
Cost
N/A However the work unit is aware that they will be charged $250.00 for non-attendance.
How to pass
Attendees must attend the full session to be marked as complete and attended.
Approvals required to attend
1. Your line Manager and HR delegates have approved your attendance at this training in writing/email.
2. You have submitted and had approval from your financial delegate for any costs including travel to associated with this training.
3. You have let the relevant rostering officers know you will be attending this training.
4. Your work unit is aware that they will be charged $250.00 for non-attendance.
Falsely claiming that approval has been granted can result in cancelation of your enrolment and disciplinary action
