Target

CAHS employees whose principal or primary function is providing direct services to the public:  Health professionals, All Medical Officers, All Nursing employees, Patient Care Assistants/Orderly, Allied Health Assistants, Allied Health professionalsCAHS Employees whose principal or primary function is providing essential support to employees delivering services directly to the public, excluding corporate support:  Hospital Support Services – Catering, Laundry, Housekeeping, Recruitment staff within Health Services, Medical Records/Clinical Coding, Pharmacy Technician, Onestaff, Yard and Maintenance employees.

Purpose

This program is designed to give participants indepth information, case scenarios and interactive activities with regard to cultural communication and protocols in health care. Session topics include – social determinants of health, cultural communication, safety and security, explaining medical needs, procedures and processes, conducting negotiations.

ACAP Training Program

To successfully complete your ACAP Training, you are required to attend all sessions (Tiers) that are relevant to your role.

Tier 1 All Staff
Tier 2

You will also be required to complete Tier 2 Training, if you are a CAHS employee whose principal or primary function is to provide:

  • direct services to the public in the following capacity:
    • Health professionals
    • All Medical Officers
    • All Nursing employees
    • Patient Care Assistants/Orderly
    • Allied Health Assistants
    • Allied Health professionals
  • essential support to employees delivering services directly to the public, i.e. Hospital Support Services:
    • Catering
    • Laundry
    • Housekeeping
    • Recruitment staff within Health Services
    • Medical Records/Clinical Coding
    • Pharmacy Technician
    • Onestaff
    • Yard and Maintenance employees

Excluding corporate support staff

Tier 3

You will also be required to complete Tier 3 Training, if you are a CAHS employee whose principal or primary function is to provide direct services to the public in the following capacity:

  • Health professionals
  • All Medical Officers
  • All Nursing employees
  • Patient Care Assistants/Orderly
  • Allied Health Assistants
  • Allied Health professionals.

How to enrol

Department of Health

Internal Staff use the Departmental Intranet Training Calendar, locate the required course in the Training Calendar, click on the link to the course details, and fill out the online Application to Attend Training accessible via Register button located on the top left hand side of the event details.

Non-AGS holder eg. Students and Agency staff

May use the Application form for non-departmental staff citing their personal email address.
