Learning outcomes

At the end of this course users will be able to:

  • Review the ED Floorplan and Patients in Department Summary
  • Mark a bed as unavailable and record a reason
  • Mark a bed as available after being unavailable on a ward
  • Understand the features of the ED Floorplan
  • Move an emergency patient from the waiting room to a cubicle or emergency be
  • Move an emergency patient from the waiting room to a cubicle or emergency bed
  • Swap an emergency patient from a cubicle or emergency bed
  • Record a temporary location for an emergency patient, thus helping emergency staff identify the exact location of the emergency patient
  • Remove a patient from a temporary location
  • Create a bed request for an Inpatient to another Specialty or Ward from the Emergency Department
  • Record the name of the nurse assigned to the patient
  • Add/edit Allergies and Alerts
  • Record Progress notes
  • Add an ED Pre Arrival
  • Add Floor Plan Notes
  • Reprint letters
  • Record the discharge details for an emergency patient who is going to be admitted to Inpatients
  • Record the discharge details for an emergency patient who is going to their usual place of residence
  • Print the ED Discharge (NT) Summary
  • Reverse the discharged emergency patient
  • Link the ED and IP episode
  • Identify there is a relationship between and ED and IP episode, they should be linked. This is done automatically for ED to IP episodes, but needs to be done manually for IP to ED (i.e. METCall) patient.
  • Gain Temporary Access to a Restricted Patient Record

It is recommended you complete the following eLearning courses prior to attending this face-to-face session:

  • Acacia 1.0 Patient Master Index Training (PMI) v2

The training sessions are delivered face-to-face onsite.

Technical requirements

Sessions delivered virtually via Microsoft Teams, ensure that the Microsoft Teams application is installed on the asset you will be using. 

You must prepare for training by testing Microsoft Teams and your headset/audio/microphone

Completion requirements

To be marked as complete, you are required to attend the full training session.
