Learning outcomes

At the end of this course users will be able to:

  • Review the ED Floorplan and Patients in Department Summary
  • Record a pre-arrival patient for a patient with a previous registration
  • Record a pre-arrival for a new patient
  • Record the pre-arrival details of an expected patient
  • To push the expected arrival time out, so that the Pre-Arrival stays on the system.
  • Cancel a pre-arrival
  • Triage a pre-arrival patient
  • Add/edit patient alerts
  • Perform Triage for Emergency Episode for patient without a previous registration
  • Add/edit patient allergies
  • Perform a patient search and triage a patient, enabling the creation of an emergency episode for a previously registered patient, exception when we are using the pre arrival patient and triage them from there
  • Print a Triage Sheet TEHS (NT) to record progress notes and print patient labels
  • Change the Triage/Stream Category
  • Conducted by Triage nurse only
  • Mark a bed as unavailable and record a reason
  • Mark a bed as available after being unavailable on a ward
  • Review the Bed Request Summary screen
  • Setting preferences
  • Raising, Review, Reject and Allocate a Bed Request
  • Understanding the process to raise a bed request
  • Review a bed request on the Bed Request Summary screen
  • Review and allocate a bed/ward for an IP Bed Request
  • Understanding how to review and reject a bed request
  • How to view ED Enquiry Save Searches
  • Create a Preference and Save at End User level for future use
  • Create a new search and save the search with navigator view
  • Search & save the Bed blocks with Navigator View
  • Triage Patient as a Code Blue/MET Call/Rapid Response
  • The IP bed will remain and a temporary location is added to the Patient details. Bed movement carried out to ED. Link to ED episode.  The Patient is then triaged as per normal and discharged from ED and returned to the IP bed that is still open. Bed movement back and Temp location is removed.
  • Link the ED and IP episode
  • If there is a relationship between and ED and IP episode, they should be linked. This is done automatically for ED to IP episodes, but needs to be done manually for IP to ED (i.e. METCall) patient.
  • Gain Temporary Access to a Restricted Patient Record

The training sessions are delivered face-to-face onsite.

Technical requirements

Sessions delivered virtually via Microsoft Teams, ensure that the Microsoft Teams application is installed on the asset you will be using. 

You must prepare for training by testing Microsoft Teams and your headset/audio/microphone

Completion requirements

To be marked as complete, you are required to attend the full training session.
