A five day face-to-face course for Remote Area Primary Health Care staff who are new to Remote Top End Health Service which requires 3 separate enrolments.
Monday - Aboriginal Cultural Awareness (ACAP)
Tuesday - Thursday Primary Health Care Remote Orientation - including 4 Wheel Drive Training Course
Friday - P3 (Prevent, Plan, Protect) - Aggression Minimisation
Target
A course for Remote Area Primary Health Care staff who are new to Remote Top End Health Service.
Overview
Orientation consists of five full days, where participants are taken through the fundamentals of Remote Primary Health Care in TEHS.
Participants who attend this course will:
- Gain an understanding around Indigenous culture and health issues in the Northern Territory
- Understand the essentials of Primary Health Care within Top End Health Service
- Understand the structure and governance of Primary Health Care Top End Health Service
- Understand the fundamental principles of operating a 4WD vehicle
- Undertake Barkley P3 aggression minimization training
Completion
You are required to complete this course as part of your essential training requirements. In order to complete this course participants must have 100% attendance at all training activities (including ACAP, 4WD and P3 face-to-face sessions) and have completed the online evaluation questionnaire.

How to secure your place in the course
Your enrolment request will be reviewed and dependent upon the following:
1. Applicant must be employed within remote Primary Health Care - Top End Health Service
2. Applicants have not previously completed orientation with PHC TEHS or have left NT Dept. of Health in excess of 12 months.
