Course Description

The TEHS Katherine Hospital Clinical Orientation Program is an opportunity for senior management and staff to welcome you to Katherine Hospital. This face-to-face program ensures our staff have the necessary skills and knowledge required to deliver safe, culturally appropriate patient centred care and to fulfil their safety and quality roles and responsibilities.

Target Audience

This is a TEHS Katherine Hospital multi-disciplinary program for all new clinical staff and those returning to the workforce after 12 months or more absence.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will receive an introduction to:

• Healthcare record documentation.
• Mandatory reporting.
• Domestic Family Violence Screening and management.
• Communication for safety, clinical handover and- familiarisation with ISOBAR
• Management of the medication pathway.
• Medication safety.
• Falls prevention - familiarisation with the Falls Risk ED package and Falls Risk screening and management tools.
• Pressure Injury Prevention - familiarisation with the Pressure Injury screening and management tools.
• Dietician services.
• Cognitive Impairment screening and management.
• Sepsis and TEHS Sepsis Pathway.
• Recognising and Responding to the deteriorating patient - familiarisation with the track and trigger observation chart.
• Protocols and criteria for escalating care.
• Cytotoxic precautions and waste management at KH.
• CDC Services.
• Pathology services.
• Take own leave.

Complete Requirements

To be marked as having completed this course, you are required to attend the full day. To print a certificate of attendance, the online evaluation is to be completed.

How to enrol

2. Ensure that the training date, venue and region is the correct one.
3. Complete the online registration form and submit for approval from your Supervisor / Line Manger. If you have completed your registration correctly, the form will close and you will receive an email confirming your application was completed successfully.

Cancellation

Please be aware that a Non-Attendance Cost of $250 per person applies if no prior arrangements have been made. If you are unable to attend a training session, please email the Coordinator.

To re-book, applicants will need to submit a new application for the preferred training date.
