Aim

Induction within the immediate work unit will ensure that those commencing, returning and/or transferring with NT Health have an effective transition to their position/role. A comprehensive workplace-specific induction is vital for new, returning and/or transferring employees with NT Health and those who are returning to the workplace after an absence of 12 months or more.

Target audience 

All employees are required to complete an induction upon commencement in their work unit.

Learning objectives

The purpose of this course is to assist managers and supervisors to meet workplace induction requirements for new, returning and/or transferring employees.

Pre-requisite

There is no pre-requisite component to this course, however employees will need to be provided with or have access to print a copy of the 'Orientation and Induction NT Health Checklist'.

Duration and delivery

Person to person workplace induction must commence within 30 days of a person’s start date and initial workplace induction must be completed in the first few days of employment.

Technical requirements

Participants are required to utilise an IT device supported by internet access and have a login to access the MyLearning platform. 

Completion requirements

To complete the workplace induction requirements:

  • the Orientation and Induction Checklist must be completed and signed by employee and Inductor (within 30 days of commencement)
  • a copy of the completed and signed checklist must be given to their manager for recording on Employees Content Manager personnel file
  • the 'Acknowledgement of Understanding' must be completed.

Assessment and grading

Employees are required complete the 'Acknowledgement of Understanding' in order to complete the workplace induction. 

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

RPL is not provided for this course. Any employee who is new or has been absent from the workplace for 12 months or more must complete this induction. 

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

No CPD hours are allocated for this learning.
