Welcome to the Job Evaluation System Introductory course. This course is available for all Northern Territory Public Service (NTPS) employees to learn the background theory on the JES methodology, and the practical skills required to be an authorised JES assessor and apply the job classification methodology within the Northern Territory Public Service (NTPS).
Target
A course for NTPS employees who are involved in doing job evaluations and grading.
Overview
The course provides an overview of the background theory on the JES methodology, and the practical skills required to be an authorised JES assessor.
Participants will be able to:
- Have familiarity with job evaluation principles and practical skills to evaluate a JAQ using JES
- Experience evaluating jobs in a panel
- Application of JES within the NTPS
- Increased consistency in job evaluation outcomes within the NTPS
- Enhanced HR professional capability to support the business
Pre-Requisite
You must work for the Northern Territory Public Service.

Duration
The JES workshop is delivered in 4 half day sessions. There are 2 consecutive days per week, over a 2 week duration.
Cost
$1402.73 per person via Ledger Transfer Fund (LTF).
How to pass
The JES training is a course that consist of four sessions. Attendees must have full attendance at all four sessions to be marked as complete and attended.
Approvals required to attend
1. Your line manager and HR delegates have approved your attendance at this training in writing/email.
2. You have submitted and had approval from your financial delegate for any costs, including travel, associated with this training.
3. You have let the relevant rostering officers know you will be attending this training.
4. Your work unit is aware that they will be charged the course fee for non-attendance.
Cancellation / Change Policy
When signing up to an event you as the participant are committing to attend all 4 sessions. Please read the below summaries to inform you of the non-attendance scenarios:
Change of Attendees: If you have signed up to an event and find that you can longer attend, it is your responsibility to find a replacement attendee to fill your place. The attendee must not have ever completed any JES training, must be from your same work unit, and must be able to attend all 4 days of the course. You must notify the Course Coordinator of this change a minimum of 5 business days prior to the beginning of the course to ensure the change of attendees can be facilitated. A change of attendees cannot occur after the course has commenced.
Cancellation of Attendance: If you cancel your attendance in an event you have signed up to, your work unit will still be charged the full participant cost of the course.
