Target

Essential Training for Nursing, Midwifery, Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioners, Registered Undergraduates of Nursing/Midwifery (RUSON/M), Patient Care Attendants/Orderly, Medical Officer, Allied Health Professional and all other relevant roles. 

Purpose

This knowledge and skill will assist you to improve outcomes for your cardiac arrest patients/clients.

Aim

This online course provides the knowledge to assist you to improve outcomes for your cardiac arrest patients/clients.

  • Defibrillation (AED)
  • What is different in babies and children?
  • What is different in pregnant women?
  • Airway obstruction management

Assessment and Grading

Basic Life Support training is an essential requirement to be completed online annually followed by a practical assessment every 2 years.

  • Read the tutorial
  • View the BLS video
  • Complete the online assessment quiz, you must receive 100% to pass.
  • A certificate will be made available once the assessment is completed and passed.
  • Complete a practical assessment (Every 2 years)

Post completion of online training

Once you have successfully completed the online modules, you will be required to contact the manager, educator or your workplace assessor to complete a practical skills assessment or make a booking with CLEaRS via the course Basic Life Support (BLS) & AED Competency Assessment and Evidence

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

To obtain RPL, you need to provide and upload evidence of Prior Learning on below courses 

  • Completion of Advanced Life Support (ALS) accredited by Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC)
  • Completion of First Aid Training provided by registered Training Provider in Australia
  • Completion of BLS training by Central Australia and Tennant Creek Regions - NT Health (previously known as CAHS)
