Mental Health and Alcohol & Other Drugs concerns are increasing within NT Health this course is designed to assist outlier areas with recognising mental health and alcohol other drugs deterioration.

Target

The program has been developed for multi disciplinary teams (Nurses, Midwives, PCA's and Security Staff) to confidently identify and manage patients who are showing signs of mental health deterioration.

Overview

Learning Outcomes

  • Basic understanding of mental health forms used in NT Health
  • Recognising and responding to signs and symptoms of deteriorating mental health state
  • Articulate primary, secondary and tertiary approaches to aggression management
  • Provide interventions for deterioration of mental state and behavioural escalation
  • Communicate effectively as a team member
  • Identify the chain of communications, your role and actions within your position in the team.

Sessions will include case scenarios.

Completion

  1. Enrol to complete the simulation workshop practical session
  2. Attend the simulation training session with full attendance
  3. Complete the simulation evaluation
  4. Once the the above requirements are complete you can obtain your Certificate
