The Introduction to ICAC and Mandatory Reporting introduces public officers to the role and functions of the Independent Commissioner Against Corruption NT and outlines the obligations of every public officer set out in the ICAC Act 2017.

Target Audience

This course is designed for all public officers.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course, students will be familiar with:

  • the ICAC’s statutory functions
  • the definitions of a public officer and a public body
  • the types of improper conduct
  • the definition and examples of corrupt conduct
  • the definition and examples of misconduct
  • the definition and examples of unsatisfactory conduct
  • the definition and examples of anti-democratic conduct
  • the definition of ‘connected to public affairs’
  • the meaning of ‘breach of public trust’
  • the Commissioner’s mandatory reporting directions and guidelines
  • the protection afforded to people who report to the Office of the ICAC in good faith
  • answers to frequently asked questions

Duration and Delivery

This course takes approximately 1 hour and is presented face-to-face at agency request.

Completion Requirements

To complete the course participants must:

  1. Complete the pre-reading (Mandatory Reporting Directions and Guidelines for Public Officers). You may want to consult the ICAC Act (this is optional).
  2. Attend the face-to-face session organised by your agency.
  3. Complete the "Acknowledgement of Understanding"
  4. Complete the evaluation via My Learning.
  5. Obtain your certificate via My Learning.

Quiz

For the face-to-face session there will be a group quiz to be completed during the session.
