Overview
This course provides nurses with the essential knowledge and skills required to manage diet orders within the Acacia.
Target audience
Inpatient Nurses
Learning outcomes
Participants in this course will learn Acacia processes in:
- Understand the Purpose and Scope of Diet Ordering in Acacia
Learners will be able to explain the role of diet orders within NT Health facilities, including their clinical relevance and alignment with the NT Health Guideline for Nutrition and Therapeutic Diets. - Navigate the Acacia Diet Ordering Interface
Learners will develop proficiency in navigating Acacia for the purposes of diet ordering - Add a Ward Diet Order
Learners will demonstrate the ability to create a basic Ward Diet order for a patient, including accessing order categories and submitting diet selections. - Amend Existing Diet Orders
Learners will be able to modify an existing diet order to include dietary restrictions, modifiers (e.g., fluid restriction, diabetic needs) - View Current and Discontinued Diet Orders
Learners will accurately locate both current and discontinued diet orders within the patient’s EPR. - Discontinue and Replace Diet Orders
Learners will know how to safely discontinue a current diet order and enter a new one, such as a Fasting or Nil By Mouth order, including use of required questionnaires. - Re-Commence Previous Diet Orders
Learners will understand how to reinstate a previously discontinued diet order using the reorder function in Acacia. - Utilise the Diet Order Worklist for Ward-Level Management
Learners will effectively use the Diet Order Worklist to verify, review, and manage diet orders across a ward, including setting preferences and filtering data. - Recognise the Importance of Accurate Allergy Documentation
Learners will understand the importance of recording food allergies on admission and how this integrates into safe diet ordering. - Successfully Complete a Knowledge Assessment to Demonstrate Competence
Learners will complete a final knowledge check with a passing score to verify their understanding of key tasks and concepts from the course.

It is recommended you complete the following eLearning courses prior to attending this face-to-face session:

Session delivery mode
The training sessions are delivered face-to-face onsite or virtually via Microsoft Teams.
Duration
30 minutes.
Technical requirements
For sessions delivered virtually via Microsoft Teams, ensure that the Microsoft Teams application is installed on the asset you will be using.
You must prepare for training by testing Microsoft Teams and your headset/audio/microphone
Completion requirements
To be marked as complete, you are required to attend the full training session.
