Target

  • Registered ATSIHP who will administer vaccines in the NT. 

Pre-Requisites

Pre-requisites must be complete within 3 business days of application; otherwise the enrolment will not be approved.

Applicants will be requested to provide the following pre-requisites:

  • Evidence of payment send to AGV Coordinator (see details below)

Note: A current Basic Life Support is a requirement for nurses and midwives/ATSIHPs to administer vaccines in the NT under the Medicines, Poisons and Therapeutic Act but it is the individual’s responsibility to maintain these certificates and this information will not be collected as part of this training.

.Pre-reading of the AGV workbook is not required for this course, the AGV workbook will be provided on the first day of training.

What you have to do?

3. Click on the Register Button (located at the top left-hand side of the training event details page.
4. Online Application to Attend Training will open, complete this form, and submit.
If you have completed the form correctly, the form will close and you will receive an email confirming you have completed the application successfully.

Note: The form may minimise to the Windows Start bar if this occurs, locate it and then maximise.

Non-Government employees

Non-Government employees use the Application form for non-departmental staff.
Note: This form may take some time to load.

How to secure your place

Government employees: After your supervisor has approved your enrolment and payment is made, your enrolment request will be reviewed and approved by the AGV Educator.
Non-Government employees: once payment is paid, your enrolment request will be reviewed and approved by the AGV Educator.

Please note:

If payment is not received for this course by the closing day, or if your supervisor has not approved your application, your enrolment will expire and you will need to re- submit it.

 

Course content

The 5 day AGV facilitated workshop will assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Health Practitioners to gain competency in vaccination both in theoretical skills and clinical procedures: It will include 

  • Information on the immune system (active, passive immunity, and population immunity).
  • An overview of vaccine preventable diseases and strategies to promote vaccination in the community.
  • Correct administration of vaccines in accordance with the current Northern Territory (NT) Vaccination Schedules.
  • Identification, reporting and management of adverse events following immunisation.
  • Cold chain management and safe handling of vaccines.
  • Information about recording vaccinations correctly and the use and role of the NT immunisation register.

If your delegated officer has not signed for funding of the course you will have to make a payment listed under point 2 or 3.

2. Cheque or Money order

Cancellation Policy

A non-attendance fee of $250 will apply if notice of cancellation is not received at least 48 hours prior to course commencement.

On the day of the training

You will receive your entire course material on the first day of the workshop.
You may bring a jumper with you, as the venue may be cold.
Coffee and tea is provided, but please bring your own food.

Course Completion

Successful completion requires participants to:

  • Attend the full 8 hours on day 1 to 4
  • Attend a clinical assessment on Day 5, appointment times will be arranged
  • Complete the written and clinical assessment.  

Statement of Attainment

A Statement of Attainment is issued when all course requirements are successfully completed.
