Promoting excellence in teaching by health professionals in the clinical setting.

This workshop series is delivered by endorsed clinicians local to central Australia with vast experience in supporting learners, making mistakes in the process which adds to the richness of this program.

Topics

  • Clinical Supervision: identifies important attributes of clinical supervisors and seeks to help them plan and implement appropriate clinical supervision for learners.

  • Planning Learning: focuses on creating a learning plan that supports achievement of specific outcomes for learners on clinical placement/attachment.

  • ​​Clinical Teaching: provides a framework for planning and delivery of workplace-based teaching activities.

  • ​Skills Teaching: examines the four-step approach to teaching skills and provides participants with the opportunity to practice using it.

  • ​Fundamentals of Assessment: explores formative and summative assessment and discusses building competence and capability.

  • ​Supporting Learners: clarifies learner, supervision and system issues and provides a framework to address problems.

  • ​Effective Group Teaching: emphasizes the importance of using active learning strategies when teaching small and large groups.

  • Improving Communication Skills: focuses on responding to emotional cues and breaking bad news.

  • Facilitating Interprofessional Learning: explores both formal and informal opportunities to support IPL in the workplace.

Payment and Course Instructions

  • You will be provided login details to the TELL Centre to access the online materials.
  • Complete the eLearning activities and prepare workshop activities prior to attending each session.

Completion Requirements

To complete this course and receive a certificate, participants are required to complete the online modules, attend each session and complete an evaluation of each module.

Technical Requirements

Once you have paid and your payment has been confirmed, an account will be created for you with the TELL Centre (an external site).

The interactive online modules require computer access with internet and sound.

Face to Face workshops

Bring a light jacket / top to wear as the air-conditioning in the RED Centre is highly changeable.

A light lunch is provided for full day workshops.  We are unable to provide for all dietary requirements.
