Aim

The Adolescent Study Day is a two-day face to face workshop aimed at health professionals. There are a range of topics with a focus on Trauma informed care and Adolescent development. 

Day 1

  1. Adolescent development
  2. Trauma Informed care
  3. Sensory modulating

Day 2

  1. Mental Health (Early recognition of psychosis)
  2. Alcohol and drug use in young people
  3. Sexual Health
  4. Sexual Assault
  5. Youth Justice
  6. Eating Disorders

Target Audience 

These sessions will be targeted at staff who deliver care to adolescent patients in the hospital and community setting. This will include but not limited to, medical staff, nursing staff, allied health and those working in non-government organisations.

Learning Objectives

These courses will allow you to:

  1. develop an understanding of adolescent health and development
  2. develop an understanding of trauma informed care specific to young people
  3. gain an insight into adolescent sexual health and wellbeing, alcohol and drug use, mental health and eating disorders across the Northern Territory
  4. become familiar with referral pathways for adolescent patients

Duration and Delivery

This training will run over 2 days. Training will be face to face and will go for 8 hours.

Face to Face Training Instructions

Completion Requirements

To be marked as completing the training, you are required to attend the training in full (ie. 100% attendance) for both Day 1 and Day 2 Training.  Partial attendance does not constitute as full attendance and therefore you will not be recorded as having attended.

The Certificate will become available after you have been marked as "Fully attended" for both Day 1 and Day 2 training.

Assessment and Grading

Participants will receive a grade of "Fully Attended" for attending the full duration of the training for Day 1 and Day 2.
