The Community Engagement Team Member course explores the key principles of community engagement, how to communicate vital key messaging and discover strategies to support communities in building their resilience.

This course equips participants with the knowledge and skills required to effectively engage with communities as representatives of the NT Emergency Service. It is the online prerequisite for the face‑to‑face course that follows.

This course is recommended for: The Northern Territory Emergency Volunteers and Staff

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to: 

• Recognise why and how the NTES undertakes community engagement to build community capability and increase disaster resilience of individuals and communities
• Explain the role of the NTES key messaging in communicating with the public
• Recognise the importance of having conversations with community members to build community capability
• Identify the types of community engagement events / activities and multiple engagement methods

Pre-requisites

To complete this training, you need to be a Northern Territory Emergency Service volunteer or staff member having undergone induction training.
