This is a course for all NT Public Sector staff to complete to ensure that they are aware of the security considerations for creating and accessing records, as well as the reasons for maintaining the security of records. It will also include how to ensure records are given an appropriate security classification in the NTG recordkeeping system, Territory Records Manager (TRM).

Target

The course is aimed at all NT Public Sector staff.

Purpose

This course will provide all NT Public Sector staff with an understanding of security considerations of the Northern Territory Government as set out in the responsibilities within the Records Management Capability Framework the Framework). The Framework outlines records management capabilities that supports employees to fulfil records management requirements in accordance with Part 9 of the Information Act 2002. This includes:

  • 1. Legislative and Government environment
  • 2. Tools and Technologies
  • 3. Business Change Management and Leadership
  • 4. Retention and Disposal of Information
  • 5. Monitoring and Compliance
  • 6. Access to Information

This course aligns to the capability of Access to Information.

It is expected that the course will take approximately [15-20] minutes to complete. It is recommended for all NTPS staff to complete to ensure that they are aware of the security considerations for creating and accessing records, as well as the reasons for maintaining the security of records. It will also include how to ensure records are given an appropriate security classification in TRM.

Duration

This is an online self-paced course. You may stop and revisit this course at any time. The course will take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete.

Completion

The course will be marked as complete when you have completed the training in full.

After you have you have successfully completed the training module you will be able to print or save your Certificate of Completion.

It is recommended that participants complete the course on a desktop or laptop computer. Please be aware that this course contains audio and the use of headphones is recommended.
