Target

All authorised Top End Health Service (TEHS) COVID-19 vaccination providers who will be administering the COVID-19 vaccine in the NT to children aged 5 - 11 years.

NOTE: Administrative and non-clinical staff working with the COVID-19 vaccine who will not be administering the vaccine, should complete the COVID-19 Vaccination Training - Non-Clinical staff (TEHS) course instead.

Purpose

Australia has rolled out COVID-19 Vaccination Program to the 5 - 11 year old vaccine cohort. Authorised COVID-19 vaccination providers must complete the Commonwealth Government's COVID-19 Module 4 Pfizer Paediatric (5 years to < 12 years) COVID-19 vaccine training. This will ensure the NT Health workforce is competent in the safe management and administration of COVID-19 vaccines.

Learning Outcomes

Participants completing this training will cover:

- COVID-19 introduction

- Handling and storage

- Communication and purpose

- Multi-dose vial (MDV) training

- Documentation and reporting

- Safety and surveillance monitoring and reporting for adverse events following immunisation 

Pre-requisites

To administer vaccines to children, participants will need to have completed all of the following and this module:

- Commonwealth Government's COVID-19 vaccination training course ( COVID-19 Vaccination Training - Clinical TEHS); 

- Completed Giving Vaccine Course or have uploaded evidence to show that you have successfully completed the course; and

- Have the authority to administer vaccinations in their relevant state or territory.
