Target

Nurses and health care professionals who are involved in teaching and supporting others.

Purpose

All Australian nurses are familiar with the ANMAC competencies, but not all Australian nurses are aware that an entire criterion of the national competency standards outlines the expectation that all nurses, where possible, participate in preceptorship, coaching, and mentoring to assist and develop colleagues.

This course is designed to assist you in your precepting experiences, and to give you the skills and knowledge required to teach and support others, in a variety of contexts.

Duration

There is one learning module. The online component of the course should take approximately 30 minutes to complete.

There are also 3 x 2-hour workshops to attend. Applicants need to complete all three workshops within 12 months of the first workshop attended.

Completion

  • To complete this course, attendees must attend all three face-to-face workshops. Each workshop has a prerequisite learning module and quiz that needs to be completed prior to workshop attendance.
  • Attendees must also complete the online learning module and receive a minimum pass mark of 80% in the quiz. Multiple quiz attempts are allowed. Participants will also need to complete a course evaluation in order to access their certificate of completion.

Technical requirements

The learning module contains sound / voice overs, participant will therefore need to access these modules on a device that has sound enabled. For Participants using NTG computers, please contact the NTG Service Desk for technical advice or assistance on 1800 000 254.

  • External / non-NTG users may use the Application form for non-departmental staff.
  • Once enrolled you will gain access to the full course site.  You must then book in to attend a face-to-face session, via the seminar booking system.

  • Choose a date and a time that suits you and click on the "Sign-up" button on the far right of the screen.
