This is a course for all NT Public Sector staff to complete which supports employees to fulfil the records management requirements set out in Part 9 of the Information Act.

Target

The course is aimed at staff who may have little to no current knowledge of records management. It is, however; expected that all staff have attended this course once. There is no expectation that staff repeat training sessions which they have already completed, unless there has been a change to the process, Standards or Legislation. Regardless, the material will be available to all staff as a refresher at any time. Staff are also encouraged to participate in other NTG All Staff Courses available through this site.

Overview

This course will provide all NT Public Sector staff with an overview of their recordkeeping responsibilities as set out in the Records Management Capability Framework. The Framework outlines records management capabilities that support employees to fulfil records management requirements in accordance with Part 9 of the Information Act 2002. This includes:

  • 1. Legislative and Government environment
  • 2. Tools and Technologies
  • 3. Business Change Management and Leadership
  • 4. Retention and Disposal of Information
  • 5. Monitoring and Compliance
  • 6. Access to Information

During this course you will gain an understanding of the NT Government records management environment and an overview of your recordkeeping responsibilities which is aligned to all six capabilities listed above. 

Duration

This is an online self-paced course. You may stop and revisit this course at any time. The course will take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete.

Completion

The course will be marked as complete when you have finished the training in full.

Once you have you have successfully completed the course, you will be able to print or save your Certificate of Completion.

It is recommended that participants complete the course on a desktop or laptop computer. Please be aware that this course contains audio and the use of headphones is recommended.
