Overview
This online module has been developed to ensure health professionals involved in any aspect of patient eye care and eye treatment have a basic understanding of common eye conditions and care in the Northern Territory.
Target audience
All NT Health staff who have not completed formal qualifications in the field of ophthalmology but are regularly involved in providing eye care or eye treatment to patients.
Course pre-requisite
Participants must complete Eye Anatomy and Function (CARHS) prior to enrolling in this course.
This program consists of modules, which must be completed in the following sequence:
Learning objectives
Following completion of this module you will be able to:
- name and describe the most common eye conditions in the Northern Territory including risk factors
- explain how to generally manage and treat these conditions
- perform a visual acuity test, evert an eyelid, and instil eye drops
- apply these skills and understandings to enhance patient care and contribute to closing the indigenous eye health gap in the Northern Territory.

Participants are required to utilise an IT device supported by internet access and have general NTG login to access MyLearning.
