Aseptic Technique (AT) THEORY
Essential training for Nursing, Midwifery, ATSIHP, Medical, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Podiatrists, Prosthetists/Orthotists, Dentists and Dental Assistants. This knowledge and skill will assist you in reducing the introduction of infection to your patient/clients.
Target
NT Health - Top End, Big Rivers, East Arnhem Regions staff. Essential Training for Nursing, Midwifery, ATSIHP, Medical Officer, Allied Health Professional and all other relevant roles.
Purpose
This self directed learning package has been developed to provide all health care workers knowledge in Aseptic Technique in accordance with the Australian Guidelines for the Prevention and Control of Infection in Healthcare. This course will fulfil the Essential Training requirements and can be included in CPD hours.
Learning Outcomes
This course will cover
- Asepsis
- Aseptic non touch technique and the reason for performing
- Discuss the reasons for strict hand hygiene
- Identify key parts and key sites
- Identify which aseptic field to use
- Describe a micro critical aseptic fields
- Risk assessment
- Different kinds of hand hygiene
- Understand the importance of asepsis and its implications on the health acquired infections
Duration
Expected duration for viewing tutorial and completing the online assessment quiz is 1 hour
Assessment and Grading
Aseptic Technique training is a requirement of the clinical workplace to be completed online every 2 years followed by a practical assessment of competency every 4 years.
- Read the tutorial
- Complete the online assessment quiz, you must achieve 100% to pass
- A certificate will be made available once the assessment is completed and passed
- Complete a practical assessment every 4 years
Completion requirements
Attendees must receive a pass mark of 100% in the online quiz.
Post completion of online training
Once you have successfully completed the online modules, you will be required to contact the manager, educator or your workplace assessor for a practical assessment.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
To obtain RPL, you need to provide and upload evidence of Prior Learning on below courses
- Completion of BLS training by Central Australia and Tennant Creek Regions - NT Health (previously known as CAHS)
