This is the NT Department of Education’s Mandatory Reporting of Harm and Exploitation of Children online training course.
Target audience
This course is designed for education staff and volunteers who work with children or their data to understand their mandatory reporting obligations.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion, the training aims for participants to:
- Understand their mandatory reporting responsibilities
- Be aware of the laws and policies about mandatory reporting
- Understand the types of harm and exploitation
- Be able to identify the signs and behavioural indicators of child harm and exploitation
- Be able to apply your knowledge and understanding to form a belief on reasonable grounds that a child has suffered or is likely to suffer harm or exploitation
- Be able to make a mandatory report and appropriately share information.

Completion
Course participants must complete the entire course to achieve course completion. Course completion criteria include:
- Pre-module questions
- Three learning modules
- 100% completion of a final quiz
Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites for this course.
Duration
This is an online self-paced course. It will take approximately 40-45 minutes to complete.
Technical Requirements
It is recommended that participants complete the module on a desktop or laptop computer. This course contains audio so the use of headphones is highly recommended.
